The Excellence in Construction© Awards celebration honors the nation’s most innovative and high-quality construction projects and safety programs.

Each year, the ABC Cornhusker Chapter provides the opportunity for members to compete for honors in the construction industry’s premier annual awards program: the Excellence in Construction EIC Awards. The ABC EIC Awards recognize the outstanding Merit Shop construction projects completed during the previous year by member companies in Nebraska.

Contour Construction ABC EIC Awards

Contour Construction submitted and won two recent projects at the local level. We also submitted the same awards for the national level EIC and the winners will be decided on December 13, 2021. The 32nd Annual Excellence in Construction® Awards ceremony will be held on March 16, 2022, in San Antonio!

Farnam Hotel

Contour was responsible for the installation of the rough carpentry and finishing carpentry items for the project. We had to install wood backing for wood paneling, casework, bath accessories, and millwork. The finish carpentry scope consisted of wood paneling, bath accessories, bathroom partitions, millwork, casework, FRP, and doors and hardware. There was an extensive amount of wood paneling on this project totaling over 13,000 square feet.

Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church

  • General Contractor- Boyd Jones Construction
  • Partnership With Contour Construction
  • Commercial:  Less Than $10 Million

St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Omaha, Nebraska, added a 41,398-square-foot addition to the church and a 6,755-square-foot support wing that consists of offices, a kitchen, workroom, and conference rooms.

The ceiling of the main entry featured tongue and groove paneling that would be used in five other ceilings throughout the project, as well as at some wall finishes. Throughout the corridors and narthex rooms, poplar box beams were installed at the ceiling to give it an exposed beam look. Nearly 1,400 lineal feet of varying size box beams were installed throughout the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church corridors.

2019 Winner of the ABC EIC Award

Contour provided rough and finish carpentry for J Gilbert’s Steakhouse project.  Rough Carpentry consisted of wood backing and blocking for all wall-mounted accessories and millwork. The Finish Carpentry Scope was for the installation of millwork, casework, running trims, dining booths and tables, and all door and hardware installation.
